Green entrepreneurship has become a top concern in developing nations. Small
Businesses are increasingly seen as powerful instruments for corporate performance
and economic development. Numerous perspectives have been used to interpret
business performance. The increasing numbers of small enterprises cause
competition to become increasingly fierce. The study aimed to assess green
entrepreneurship on the performance of small enterprises in the Moshi District.
Specifically, the study assessed the influence of green technology on the
performance of small enterprises, determined the entrepreneurship skills used on the
growth of sustainable enterprises and the extent of influence of green motivation on
the performance of SEs. A cross-sectional research design guided the study
whereby data were collected using key informant interviews, documentary review
and survey methods. A sample of 306 respondents was drawn from the study. This
included sustainable enterprises found in Moshi District. The sample was selected
through a simple random sampling technique.
Findings revealed a relationship between green technology and the performance of
small enterprises has had been established It supports hypothesis one. The
relationship between entrepreneurship skills and small enterprises' performance was
not confirmed and the 3 hypotheses were not supported. The relationship between
motivation in green entrepreneurship and enterprise performance was significant It
supports hypothesis two. The relationship between green entrepreneurship
competitiveness and performance of enterprise performance has a lower beta value
of and to a greater extent contributing to the welfare of the SEs community was
observed to be the most influential on the performance of SEs. The study concludes
that the most applicable technology used among SEs is selling online because it
allows selling activities to be done online without having to meet face to face. The
study recommendeds that SEs owners should be given more training and seminars
regarding green business planning, sustainability and how to use green technology.
This will enable them to gain more knowledge that would help them to easily adapt
to the technology. |
