Abstract:
This is a comparative study of the performance of the Regional Press Clubs in Tanzania with specific
reference to the Arusha Press Club (APC), Media Club of Kilimanjaro (MECKI) and Mwanza Press
Club (MPC). The study adopted a mixed design by using questionnaires, interview and documenta
review as data collection methods. The study sample was 171 respondents including 48 press club
ladders and 123 members. Descriptive statistics were applied for data analysis in respect to quantitative
data while contents analysis was done for qualitative data. Results indicated hat inventory was carried
out in Arusha and Mwanza Press Clubs while Kilimanjaro did not carry out inventory, press clubs faced
with financial which weakened their operations, and the press clubs solely depended on membership
fees to support operations. Regional press clubs are faced with limited resources, and poor
management. It is recommended that the press clubs should improve leadership and solicit resource to
their operations
